Register for POETRY IN MINIATURE - SUMMER 2020
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP: Poems are like miniature worlds, inviting us to think about the familiar in a new way. In this workshop, we'll use the creation of diorama-making exercises, and scavenger hunts to spark imagination and inspire poetry about whatever we want. Our young poets will create miniature worlds – outside in the park, beach, riverbank, or wherever they can safely explore, and indoors in their bedrooms and kitchens. We will use the Victorian poetry of Cicely Mary Barker's, “Flower Fairies” and 1920’s Elizabeth Gordon’s, “Flower Children”, among other writings, that imagine the fantastic out of the ordinary - and makes new sense out of the old chaos that confronts us every day.
This class is made possible in part by the generosity of Leslie and Michael Ross, in loving memory of their son, Alan.
